Roadside Clean-up
Spring 2010
Don't ask me why, but somebody (lets call him Scott) decided we should have new member orientation, a 50 yard range work party, and a roadside cleanup on the same day. Luckily, everything worked out and everything got done. The downside was that I was running around so much I did not get pictures of all the activities. The photos below do not do justice to the dedicated club members who came out to make the work-orientation-pickup day a success. I am sorry I did not get more pictures - I am such a bad Webmaster!
| The 2010 roadside cleanup team. I am sorry - I did not get their names. However, I do know the young gentlemen in the center was named Mathew and it was his birthday. Happy Birthday Mat! | The cleanup team hits the chow line |
| JoAnn Zelker, our First Lady, and her grandaughter. I did not catch the little girl's name - lets just call her "Sparkle" | President Dave Zelker working some of his "grill magic" (patent -pending) |

Spring 2009
A small, but determined, band of conservation enthusiasts turned out for the 2009 cleanup. The distant smell of chicken on President Dave Zelker's smoker kept the intrepid labors focused on the prize - food. Well the prize is actually a clean environment - but you have to admit - grilled chicken is pretty sweet. Check out the photo diary of the day's event. We have photos of only one team of conservationists - I can't be everywhere!
The conservation team would like to offer their special thanks to JoAnn Zelker for providing a truly legendary macaroni salad.
| Our intrepid band sets off into the wilderness...(L-R) , Evan Yarter, Elyse Byrnes, David McBurnie, and Bruce Yarter | Evan Yarter shows off his mad paper plate balancing skills, while his Dad shamelessly poses for the camera. |
| David McBurnie points out something good in Bruce's bag. | The thrill of victory... (David needs to get out more) |
| Elyse holds a paper cup she rescued from the roadside. Evan knows there is more trash out there ...waiting for next year. | Chris Templin monitors Dave Zelker's cooking technique. Dave is a strict constructionist and believes chicken should be cooked only with the right hand. |
| Scott Souza (L) and Stu Hefter (R) in a stare down over who gets the first piece of chicken. | The team reaps their reward. |
